Let’s explore how mindset play a role in our emotional and mental state, and how they can have an effect on your physical habits. While living a balanced life and eating healthy is not rocket science, in today’s high-pressure society with so many different stressors coming at us from all angles, maintaining a healthy and balanced life has become quite an art.

As a personal trainer, one of my key focuses with each client is to master their mindset and help them find their way to a healthy and balanced life. We have all, at one time or another looked outside ourselves for help and guidance. While this can be helpful, if our mindset is not right all the help and guidance in the world will not make us succeed.

Success starts WITHIN!

When it comes to eating well and making healthy lifestyle choices, our emotions play a huge role in the consistency and focus that we apply to our everyday habit and nutritional choices. Whether you succeed or fail in achieving and maintain the right balance for you is entirely a mental game above all.

There are so many things that can cause stress in our life today and food is often one of the first places many people turn to when they need some comfort. This short-lived pleasure and the misuse of food usually results in feelings of guilt and only worsened state of mind.

In today’s world we are surrounded by temptation everywhere we turn, full of distractions and with many types of stressors, food has become so many peoples coping mechanism and in turn has led to so many people struggling with weight issues and ill health.

The great news is that change is possible! It all starts with setting your mind. Taking the time to look inside and examine why you want to make these changes, what difference this will make to your life and how you will go about making these changes. Accept that this will not be a straight road, there will be twists and turn, highs and lows but at the end of it all you will achieve the lasting result you’ve always wanted.

Here is my top 4 tips to help get you started:

1. Step back, take a look inside and evaluate what is not working. Write a list of what you comes up.

2. Take smaller steps. New habits are formed by repeatedly doing a certain action. If you have a lot of bad habits pick one habit at a time instead of trying to change them all at one.

3. Be ok not being a sheep. You are on your own path to changing your own life not somebody else be ok with that.

4. If you fall off track reconnect and refocus on why you are making these lifestyle changes. Don’t hold on to the negativity and guide. Let it go focus on what you can do right now that will help you find your balance again.
